We may not have an exact release date for the Nintendo Wii U quite yet, butD3 Publisher (opens in new tab)may have just given us a helping hand with that by announcing the release of a movie tie-in game that seems like it could be pretty close to a launch title.
Rise of the Guardians, a Dreamworks animated feature starring Jude Law, Chris Pine, Hugh Jackman, and Alec Baldwin, features mystical characters like the Easter Bunny (Jackman) and Santa Clause (Baldwin) fighting to save the world from falling into darkness at the hands of the Nightmare King (Law.) So in other words, it’s a lot like the Nightmare Before Christmas.
The movie isn’t out until 2013, but the video game tie-in will be releasing on November 20 on the Wii U, lending to speculation that it is actually a Wii U launch title that reveals the release date for Nintendo’s console. This report corroborates other evidence that popped up today in a Sega press release that suggested Wii U would launch in November.
Rise of the Guardians will also be out on Wii, 3DS, DS, 360 and PS3.
We will of course report back if we’re able to get any more concrete information on the Wii U release date.
