Tweets Of The Week

*Spoiler-filled* Red Wedding reactions, Nathan Fillion’s beef with Man Of Steel and what did Damon Lindelof write for World War Z ? All in the latest Tweets Of The Week (opens in new tab)

SPOILER WARNING: seriously, if you haven’t seen episode 9 of Game Of Thrones ’ third season (or at the very least read the books) and you don’t want to be spoiled, skip forward to page 2 where it’s business as usual for Tweets Of The Week…

@Maisie_Williams *spoiler ep9* https://vine.co/v/b3XZMHmxzxh (opens in new tab)

It’s destined to go down as one of the most shocking moments in TV history, so it’s little surprise The Red Wedding was the talk of Twitter in the seconds, minutes, hours, days after it aired. For UK viewers Twitter became a 24-hour no-go zone, as the agonising wait for it to start, one day after it debuted in the States meant all social media was filled with spoiler mines. Among the first to react were the cast (Maisie William’s bizarre Vine above being the highlight):

(opens in new tab)

@RealMsFairley Can’t say thank you enough GoT fans. Love to you all .Overwhelmed from all the heartfelt tweets. Was truly a wonderful experience. MF xx

(opens in new tab)

@IAMLenaHeadey I cried. Michelle Fairley is one of my favorite actors to watch. She is so present . That howl for her son ripped through..

@OonaCC Thank you guys for the lovely comments about #GoT , really means a lot. Big love. #gameofthrones #epic

(opens in new tab)

@missnemmanuel Oh my Gaaaaarrrrsh! Just watched episode 9 of @GameOfThrones …. Aaaargh DAMN YOU LORD FREY!!!!

(opens in new tab)

@mguggenheim The number of people who were shocked by Sunday’s Game of Thrones is directly proportional to the number of people who have never read GOT.

(opens in new tab)

@kevwilliamson Game of Thrones. OMFG. I repeat OMFG!!!

(opens in new tab)

(opens in new tab)

@ElizabethBanks Holy Mother of F. I have nothing quippy or cool to say re: Game of Thrones. I’m shattered. #GoT

(opens in new tab)

@ZacharyLevi Hey, #GameofThrones , you win. You now have more of an impact on my emotional well being than anything else in life. #imnotokayrightnow 🙁

(opens in new tab)

@MsJaimeMurray NOOOO #GAMEOFTHRONES WTF!?!?! How could you? Why, why, why???

(opens in new tab)

@RachelleLefevre I’m so traumatized by #GameofThrones tonight I can’t move from the couch. Just sitting here slack-jawed like a muppet. #HBO

(opens in new tab)

@geoffjohns GAME OF THRONES!!!!!!! WHAAAAT!?!?!?? @allanheinberg

(opens in new tab)

(opens in new tab)

@Liam_J_McIntyre Wow. Really @GameOfThrones ? I don’t know if I actually want to watch you anymore after that. I’m actually kind of annoyed. Boo.

(opens in new tab)

@RhettReese Last night’s Game of Thrones lived up to all expectations. It did justice to my second favorite scene in all the books!

(opens in new tab)

Fortunately at least some were around to help us deal with the trauma through laughter:

(opens in new tab)

(opens in new tab)

@zachbraff Between Michael Douglas ruining cunnilingus and the Blood Wedding on G.O.T, it’s been a dramatic 24 hours.

(opens in new tab)

@edgarwright I am not quite caught up yet, but clearly the acronym for Game Of Thrones should officially be changed from GoT to OMG.

(opens in new tab)

@pattonoswalt Let’s just say I’ve deejayed a LOT of weddings that ended like last night’s GAME OF THRONES.

Jon Favreau

(opens in new tab)

@Jon_Favreau I don’t know which was more disturbing, the red wedding on #got or Rob Lowe’s makeup on #behindthecandelabra

(opens in new tab)

@glenmazzara Wow. Game of Thrones brings it. #FeelGoodShowOfTheYear

(opens in new tab)

(opens in new tab)

@joncassar Game of Thrones – for those still in shock, now you you know why your nerdy friend who read the books was depressed 10 years ago

(opens in new tab)

Tweets Of The Week

Fred’s Twitpics from the past, Hayley Atwell’s Lara Croft campaign and Madame de Pompadour meets Amy Pond in the latest Tweets Of The Week (opens in new tab)

(opens in new tab)

There was a time when behind the scenes snippets were confined to convention panels and the odd making of book. Then DVDs came along and, for a time, everyone knew everything about every TV show/film ever made; until everyone started diligently ignoring DVD extras in favour of a few extra minutes on Facebook. Fortunately now Twitter’s here there’s finally another avenue to disseminate long-forgotten pictures from behind the scenes of your favourite show, which is exactly what Amy Acker did this past week, all while pimping her new movie. Well played, Fred.

Tweets Of The Week

Which sci-fi show will get a Kickstart next? Sherlock drops by The World’s End edit and Eliza Dushku (sorta) kisses a zombie, all in the latest Tweets of the Week (opens in new tab)

(opens in new tab)

“Blessed are the meek:
for they shall inherit the earth.”
Matthew 5:5

Forget the meek, if the success of the Veronica Mars movie Kickstarter is anything to go by (over $3.5 million raised in four days), it’ll be the geeks that are running this lump of rock before too long. Naturally, when a series as niche as Veronica Mars makes such a staggeringly large amount of money in such a short space of time you’ve got to wonder – what sci-fi and fantasy shows could get a similar treatment?

Joss Whedon has already ruled out a Firefly Kickstarter until at least he and Nathan Fillion aren’t the busiest men in movies/TV (just imagine what a mind-bogglingly large sum a new series of Firefly could raise) , but the creators of several beloved sci-fi series have taken to Twitter to talk about the prospect of bringing back their shows from the dead.

(opens in new tab)

@BryanFuller I’M CERTAINLY GOING TO TRY. Bryan Fuller Might Kickstarter a Pushing Daisies Revival http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/76206352.html (opens in new tab)

Tweets of the Week

A final farewell to Fringe, some sobering thoughts on the end of Alphas and much, much more in the latest Tweets Of The Week (opens in new tab)

Anyone who reads SFX , online or in print, will know how much we love Fringe . The show came to an end last Friday night, and was broadcast simultaneously in the UK and the US; little surprise then that #Fringe, #KeepLookingUp and #WeCrossedTheLine (each episode’s dedicated hashtag) were trending for most of the evening (take that Bieber!)

It was a show that found its weird, mutated feet late in its first year on the air, and rarely dipped in quality for its remaining four. A significant part of its continued survival in the cut-throat world of US network TV was the outpouring of support it received online over that half decade, much of which was organised via Twitter. It seems only fitting then that for Fringe ’s final bow we highlight the thoughts and thanks of those involved expressed via Twitter.

… And mainly, to YOU, the greatest fans in any universe. You kept the show going. Xxoo

TV networks really should consider the long-term damage they do to viewing by canceling fan favorite shows without any kind of closure.

Canceling shows is sometimes a prudent business decision. But not doing a few episodes or a TV movie to wrap up teaches fans not to invest.
