The Old Republic getting increased level cap, F2P, and more this summer

At EA’s E3 press conference, BioWare took the stage to talk about the immediate future for Star Wars: The Old Republic. Though it didn’t announce an expansion, the amount of content planned for the coming months is essentially tantamount to what would be included if they had.

Before the end of the year, the game will be getting a new playable race in the Cathar, a new space mission, an additional operation, a raised level cap, some new abilities, a new Warzone, and a new companion: HK-51, who bears a striking resemblance to the fan-favorite, human-hating HK-47 of KOTOR fame.

And that’s just scratching the surface. Also confirmed are a handful of quality-of-life additions. A group finder, ranked PvP, character finders, and other minor tweaks will help make the experience of playing Star Wars: The Old Republic all the more convenient.

Those still on the fence will be able to try the game for free, too, up to level 15. Starting in July, the game will have the first 15 levels open to anyone for free, which should help you decide whether or not SWTOR is for you.
