Earlier this week the internet was abuzz with the apparent leak of a first draft of the script for platinum Dunes’ forthcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot, Ninja Turtles . The feedback? Not so great.
However, Michael Bay has taken to his website in order to clarify the situation, and claims that the leaked script is a relic from several years ago, long before his production company got involved in proceedings.
“Leaked script for Ninja Turtles that different sites continue to comment on was written well before I, or anyone at Platinum Dunes, was involved with the project,” said Bay. “That script saw the shredder a long time ago. This is tired, old news – Wait for the movie!”
Nice Turtles reference with the term “shredder” there. However, with the script being dated “30/01/12” and Platinum Dunes supposedly having come on board back in 2010, something didn’t add up. Over again to Bay to straighten things out…
“To end this stupid merry go round and explain the math…Yes we signed on two years ago to Turtles , but with no deal in place. Deal completed towards end of last year. And yes, thats how long deals sometimes take. So no work was done on the script. Blame Paramount, not us for the first draft.”
Phew, at least that’s all cleared up then. Directed by Jonathan Liebesman with Sean Astin, Jason Marsden and Gregg Cipes on voiceover duty, Ninja Turtles will open in the UK on 16 May 2014. Cowabunga!
