Injustice 2 leaked by pre-order posters

Prepare for more not-so-heroic superpowered combat. A GameStop poster leaked to Polygon (opens in new tab) seemingly confirms the existence of Injustice 2, the sequel to the popular 2013 DC Comics fighting game from the Mortal Kombat studio.

According to the leak, the poster is meant to be distributed with pre-orders for the unannounced game. GameStop wouldn’t want that kind of stuff just sitting around in back rooms for long so a more formal announcement is likely to arrive very soon – I’d say E3 at the very latest.

The poster shows Batman staring down The Flash, with a tagline that reads “Every Battle Defines You”. Both of those characters were featured in the original Injustice (opens in new tab) so it won’t help much with new roster speculation. That tagline may be teasing more persistent elements, like a choice-based single player campaign or perhaps even characters that develop as you fight with them.

In any case, it’s a bummer for NetherRealm Studios creative director Ed Boon, who has been teasing a new game reveal all week. At least he’s keeping a sense of humor about it.
