Burtonation For The Nation

Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie has been named as the opening film of this year’s BFI London Film Festival on 10 th October. Burton attempted to create the film 28 years ago when he was working for Disney, and has previously shot a live action short starring Shelley Duvall and Sofia Coppola. Deemed too scary for the family-friendly company, it can now be found as a bonus feature on the DVD version of The Nightmare Before Christmas . Frankenweenie is the second stop motion animation to open the BFI film festival, with Fantastic Mr. Fox having the honour in 2009.

Billy Spills The Beans

Billy Crystal has revealed some information about the plot of Monsters University , the prequel to Pixar classic Monsters Inc . We already know from the trailer that it’s set in Mike and Sully’s university years, and Crystal has revealed that the duo are freshman who are forced to work together to “mobilize a group, sort of like Revenge Of The Nerds -monsters, and get them to be scary”.

A ten minute bonus feature on the blue ray disk for The Walking Dead has revealed that Robert Kirkman loves “screwing with the comic book readers to a certain extent.” He explains the reason he does this is to keep the show fresh and alive: “If we were to adapt the show directly and extremely faithful to the comic, we would lose the key component.”
