Fallout 4 survival mode out of beta on PC & coming to consoles soon

It’s been tweaked and changed in optional beta form since March but Fallout 4 (opens in new tab)’s ultra hard survival mode has now had a full release on Steam as part of update 1.5. Bethesda’s Pete Hines has previously said that the patch would be submitted to consoles after a full release on PC, so we should only have a matter of weeks to wait before cranking the difficulty up to painful on PS4 and Xbox One.

You can see the full details of the 1.5 patch here (opens in new tab) on the Bethesda forums but the new survival mode makes life in the wasteland significantly more stressful. Fast travel is no more, enemies are far more lethal and won’t show up on your mini map, disease is a serious issue and, just like in real life, you can’t quick save or manual save anymore. You have to find a bed to sleep in to mark your progress.

Who said the apocalypse was meant to be fun again? Oh yeah, no one.
