When 2009’s Demon’s Souls suddenly became a hit, it was a huge surprise – not just because it was a new and untested property, but because the game was incredibly, unforgivingly hard. Nevertheless, the audience spoke with its wallets, and so Demon’s Souls’ spiritual successor/semi-sequel, Dark Souls, will be even tougher. After seeing some of Dark Souls’ giant bosses and undead hordes in action, we chatted up K Hirono, the game’s publishing producer, to find out what hope, if any, players stand when the game releases in October.
