Best news since doughnuts got jam: Silent Hill, Resident Evil 4, No More Heroes bosses definitely making more games together

I keep forgetting about Shadows of the Damned, and that makes me a bad person. It is, you see, the product of a collaboration so strong that it threatens to destroy the natural laws of the universe with each and every day that passes, running the constant, very real risk of inverted gravity and green skies and hot ice cream and things like that. Reason being that said collaboration is between the three greatest Japanese men not to be called Miyamoto or Miyazaki.

Yes, Shinji Mikami (Killer7, Resident Evil), Suda 51 (Killer7, No More Heroes) and Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill) are making an action-horror game together, it’s out in June, andit looks like the most rock-and-roll thing ever to exist.Best news? It also looks like it’s just the first part of a long collaboration.

Speaking toGamerzines (opens in new tab), erstwhile Silent Hill Producer/Composer Yamaoka states that,

“It’s definitely going to happen again. It’s going to be a new collaboration, but this time it’ll be a collaboration in the east only. But as I said before, east meets west. In the future I really want to see Mikami-san, Suda 51 and myself working together with some western game creators to form a new team. I believe that will be a true east meets west and I want to see that happen. That is what is necessary for the global game market.”

So, the three most creative and most pioneeringfigureheads of Japan’s indie development scene, working together as a more permanent team, with the intention of breaking down east/west development boundaries? Sign me up for a dozen. I’m almost moist.

And there could be a secret project already on the go at Yamaoka and Suda’s Grasshopper Manufacture. Yamaokagoes on (opens in new tab)to say,

“I can’t disclose what it is right now, but we are working on something completely different at this moment which doesn’t really involve HD. As a company, we’re trying out many things. It’s not a major shift to focus on HD”

Not HD? It’s either mobile or on the Wii or 3DS then. My money is on the latter, but frankly I’m listening whenever those guys are working on anything.
