What would you do if you were a genetically engineered monster killing machine with a vast fantasy world to explore and a quest of grave importance to pursue? You’d completely disregard the quest and go find some monsters to kill, duh. That’s the idea behind this new The Witcher 3 (opens in new tab) gameplay preview, in which Geralt of Rivia goes looking for a missing caravan and finds more than he bargained for.
I won’t say he finds more than he’s expecting, though, because by this point in the series he’s probably pretty accustomed to meeting giant monsters that want to kill him. Check out the seven-minute gameplay walkthrough, complete with narration by senior level designer Peter Gelencser, embedded below.
This is just one of several side quests that Geralt can undertake in No Man’s Land, one of The Witcher 3’s many vast regions. Hopefully they don’t all end with a Wyvern ambush… actually, what am I saying? A wyvern ambush is always a good way to conclude a sidequest, especially when you get to chop off its head and strap it to the side of your horse.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is scheduled to release on May 19 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. I’m looking forward to it, and not just because that means CD Projekt Red can start focusing on Cyberpunk 2077 (opens in new tab). Only, like, 65 percent because of that.
