The Walking Dead showrunner teases a very different season 8: “Things are going to move”

Love it or hate it, I think plenty would agree that The Walking Dead season 7 (opens in new tab) was a slower burn than previous seasons. Showrunner Scott Gimple says that won’t be the case in The Walking Dead season 8 (opens in new tab) though.

“We knew we wanted to mix it up in [season 8], and we knew what eight was going to be and how that would dictate a very different kind of structure,” Gimple told ComicBook.com (opens in new tab). “So, yeah, things are going to move, and possibly not have the kind of deep dives into characters in single episodes, but rather laying out the pieces as we go on.”

Hey, as long as we don’t get another CG deer moment, I’m cool with that. And while the show doesn’t follow the comics verbatim, it is getting awful close to the All Out War story arcs. If you want to potentially spoil yourself now, look for The Walking Dead volumes 20 and 21.

Gimple isn’t the only one getting audiences primed for action; Andrew Lincoln likewise said that TWD season 8 will be “big” and “terrifying.” (opens in new tab) And with Jadis, Enid, and Simon all coming back as series regulars (opens in new tab), there’s a lot of big personalities looking to make waves.
