The Road: A Story Of Life And Death review

A grandiose title for Marc Isaac’s latest documentary, which explores the experiences of various immigrants living near the A5 in northwest London.

Among those sharing their feelings of loss and belonging are an Austrian great-grandmother, a divorced German air hostess, a Kashmiri hotel porter and an aspiring female singer fresh off the Holyhead ferry.

Affecting at times yet muted in its overall impact, this bears some similarities to Carol Morley’s Dreams Of A Life .

It is certainly inferior though, not to mention almost 20 minutes shorter.
