The Journeys Alex Hunter has scored 164 million goals in FIFA 17

EA has proclaimed its bespoke story mode within FIFA 17 to be a resounding success, with the news that players have scored 164 million goals with Alex Hunter so far. And you thought Alan Shearer’s record was prolific.

The stat is one of many released by EA Canada as part of a Hunter-focussed infographic (opens in new tab). The fictional forward, played by actor  Adetomiwa Edun, has featured in 142 million matches at an average of 4.2 million per day, with Manchester United (18.4%) his most popular parent club. Liverpool (11.3%), Leicester (11.1%), Arsenal (9.7%) and West Ham (7.9%) round out the top five.

As GR+ revealed in our piece offering full spoilers for The Journey (opens in new tab), early in his career Hunter gets to select from three Championship clubs for a loan move in order to build experience at a lower level. Newcastle United beat out Aston Villa and Norwich to be named his most popular destination.

His trait levelled up more than any other is ball control, followed by weak foot, finesse shot, flair and dribbling.

His average match rating is 8 out of 10, and he’s nabbed 1.1million FA Cup winner’s medals, and 659,000 Premier League championships.

“It’s absolutely incredible to see the number of people engaging with The Journey,” says Edun. “The social media response has been phenomenal: to have fans shouting out for Alex during big football matches has been surreal. I can’t wait to see where Alex’s journey leads next.”

FIFA 17 is out now on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
