Star Wars II and III getting 3D releases in 2013

Star Wars is heading back to cinemas again, with the official Star Wars Facebook page confirming that the final two films in the prequel trilogy are to get the 3D re-release treatment.

Following on from this year’s re-release of Episode I: The Phantom Menace , Episode II: Attack Of The Clones and Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith will get back-to-back cinema releases in 2013.

Episode II will open on 20 September 2013, while Episode III will open on 11 October 2013.

Though Episode I is easily the least popular film in the series, it still managed to rustle up $44m at the global box office, which is nothing to be sniffed at.

Previously, Lucasfilm revealed that each Star Wars film would get a 3D re-release on a yearly basis , beginning with Menace and ending with Return Of The Jedi .

So while most Wars fans won’t bother going to see the remaining prequels in 3D, the good news is that we may not have to wait long for the original trilogy to get a 3D revival.

Just think how good The Empire Strikes Back will look up there through a pair of 3D glasses…
