The official teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens (opens in new tab)’ deleted scenes is finally here. Director JJ Abrams and company must have cut these scenes for a reason, but if you’re desperate for more of the new space adventure, they’ll definitely do the trick.
We already knew the titles for all six scenes (opens in new tab), but this is the first we’ve seen of many of them. That scene with Maz Kanata and the gang in the basement of her cantina castle is of particular note: minor spoiler warning, but special effects director Chris Corbould previously said (opens in new tab) there was a scene where Maz “uses her powers to collapse the ceiling” on a group of pursuing Stormtroopers.
Maz tells Rey that she is “no Jedi, but I know the Force” earlier in the film – and that scene may reveal just how well she knows it. Still, don’t expect too much more resolution from a deleted scene. We’ll likely have to wait for Star Wars Episode 8 (opens in new tab) to hit theaters on December 15, 2017 to learn more about how the Jedi and other non-evil Force wielders are doing 30 years after the original trilogy.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released in Digital HD on April 1, then on Blu-ray and DVD on April 5 in the US and April 18 in the UK.
