Spider-Man: Homecoming will be a trilogy according to Tom Holland

It sounds like Spidey will be hanging around for some time yet. Spider-Man: Homecoming (opens in new tab) is just weeks away – oh, and the Spider-Man PS4 game (opens in new tab) looks fantastically fun – but if you want even more in the way of webhead action, then you’re in luck. Tom Holland has probably, almost definitely, let slip trilogy plans for everybody’s friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.

Holland has been speaking to French magazine Allocine (opens in new tab) (with ComicBook.com (opens in new tab)providing the translation), and if he thought talking to the foreign press about things he probably shouldn’t be talking about wouldn’t get back to us then, hoo boy, he was wrong.

The actor, who will also be appearing in Avengers: Infinity War (opens in new tab), laid out plans for Spidey’s franchise future: “There is still plenty of room to see Peter Parker grow up, and, especially, Spider-Man in the next two movies, and at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming, the story is definitely not complete. I’m really looking forward to exploring how it will grow, [and to] see what will happen after puberty. Yes, [they’re] going to be exciting movies.”

And then Holland may have said too much – for Marvel’s liking anyway, “Yes, there will be Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming 3.” We knew that Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 is set for 2019 (opens in new tab), but a trilogy is big news. That’s another one to add to the ever-growing list of upcoming MCU movies (opens in new tab)

As long as we don’t get teen angst Peter in the third movie, I think we’ll be okay.
