Rogue Cut of X-Men: Days Of Future Past to include 17 minutes of new footage

One casualty from last year’s X-Men: Days Of Future Past is about to get revived. And we’re not talking about Bolivar Trask’s foiled Sentinels program. The retconning sequel marked the return of several major players from all eras of Fox’s X-Men movie-verse, including Anna Paquin’s Rogue. Alas, one of the biggest struggles for director Bryan Singer was maintaining a trim running time while doing each of the characters justice – which meant Wolvie’s fave pupil ended up only appearing in one brief shot.

Since late in 2014 however, talk has turn to an alternate cut of the movie dubbed “The Rogue Cut.” Producer Simon Kinberg spoke out about the extended version of the flick, stating that both he and Singer were keen to issue an edit that reinstates a large chunk of Paquin’s scenes.

Singer himself has now confirmed that this equates to a Days Of Future Past that’s a whopping 17 minutes longer than the original:

For the record the Rogue Cut of #Xmen #DOFP is more than 17 minutes longer than the original cut. And has a few little changes I made. 🙂April 3, 2015

There’s currently no official word on when the Rogue-inclusive version of the movie will be revealed. An educated guess would point towards its release sometime later this year ahead of X-Men: Apocalypse which is set to open on May 27, 2016.
