Ridley Scott wants his Alien back

Having let go of the Alien franchise after its first outing, Ridley Scott is taking steps to reclaim the beloved sci-fi saga. “I’m trying to keep this for myself,” he told IGN, “I let the other one [Alien] get away from me – I shouldn’t have… I’m trying to re-resurrect the beast and let if off the hook for a while because I’m coming back into the back-end of Alien 1. I’m gradually getting to Alien 1.”

Prometheus skirted around the franchise proper and now Scott plans to revisit that world in a xenomorph-rich sequel, titled Alien: Paradise Lost. His first revival failed to prove its worth as a sort-of prequel and that’s precisely why he’s promising actual aliens this time around. And some much-needed answers.

Prometheus 2 will start getting shot in February and I’ve already begun now so I know what the script is,” he added. “Then there will be another one after that and then maybe we’ll back into Alien 1 – as to why? Who would make such a dreadful thing?”

If the troublesome matter of time travel wasn’t an issue, my money would be on evil-corp Weyland-Yutani. Whatever plot thread Scott chooses, he’ll be accompanied by Skyfall scribe John Logan, who’s now joined the film as its third screenwriter. Jack Paglen and Michael Green submitted earlier drafts for the film, scheduled to open on May 30, 2017.
