Lovely Molly review

Writer/Director Eduardo Sánchez changed cinema with his debut, The Blair Witch Project . That won’t be the case here, but Molly is a sober, grown-up horror of some force.

Gretchen Lodge plays the title character, a damaged newlywed beset by spooky noises in the old family home – is she suffering from terrors of the mind or something more sinister?

Impressive, if messy, the film combines kitchen-sink drama with found-footage horror, perjuring itself with too many plot possibilities.

But there’s 45 intriguing minutes in the middle where Sanchez ties the flailing strands with real finesse.
