Leonardo DiCaprio up for Creed Of Violence with Todd Field?

Rumours are rife that Leonardo DiCaprio could be set to join another period western: Todd Field’s The Creed Of Violence .

We say another, as DiCaprio is set to play villain Calvin Candie in Quentin Taratino’s Django Unchained (there still hasn’t been a 100% official confirmation on that casting, but it seems to be taken as a given now).

According to an unnamed source in a Los Angeles Times report, DiCaprio is reportedly interested in starring in The Creed Of Violence , which is based on a novel by Boston Teran.

Set in 1910, the story takes place in Mexico during the revolution. A criminal named Rawbone tries to smuggle weapons into Mexico, but he is caught and accompanied by a government agent with whom he shares a mysterious past.

It’s said that Leo could potentially end up playing either role. Director Todd Field ( In The Bedroom , Little Children ) has been developing the project for some time, although DiCaprio’s involvement could obviously speed things up.

Field’s previous works have been very interesting character-orientated numbers, so it’d be intriguing to see what he could do with this kind of genre property.

DiCaprio, who starred in Sam Raimi’s western The Quick And The Dead , has recently finished up on Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar , and he has Django… and The Great Gatsby lined up, so it’s possible that Creed… might not happen in the near future.

Expect the long-gestating project to suddenly become a lot more high-profile if DiCaprio does come aboard though…
