James Franco plots to save JFK in teaser for Stephen King adaptation 11/22/63

The first teaser for Stephen King’s 11.22.63 has landed online, proving that it’s possible for James Franco to be involved in a literary adaptation not by William Faulkner. This fantasy period piece for TV is produced by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot, with both Abrams and his former Lost alum Bryan Burk executive producing along with King. If that list hasn’t clued you in, then allow me to sum up: 11/22/63 isn’t your typical historical drama.

Franco plays Jake Epping, a high school teacher whose daily trips into a local cafe lead him to discovering something paranormal in the pantry. Aside from endless tubs of lard, he finds a doorway into the past: several years prior to JFK’s assassination. Should he go back and prevent his murder? Luckily, this tasty teaser doesn’t give away all the secrets.

11.22.63 co-stars Chris Cooper, Josh Duhamel, T.R. Knight, Cherry Jones, Sarah Gadon, Lucy Fry, George MacKay, and Daniel Webber. The nine-hour miniseries drops its first two-hour episode – directed by Kevin McDonald – in the US February 15, 2016 via Hulu. No UK release date has been confirmed.
