The Halloween festivities are in full swing, and we now have access to the complete set of Fortnite Fortnitemares challenges for 2020, along with all the new Fortnite Fortnitemares rewards they bring so you can fully spook up your locker. During the Fortnitemares event the usual Fortnite rules have been given a haunting twist, allowing players to return in spectral form after they’ve been eliminated, and these altered gameplay mechanics coupled with new locations mean it’s not immediately obvious how to beat these assignments. For that reason we’re here to help out, so if you’re looking for advice on how to complete any of the Fortnite Fortnitemares challenges, or want information on the rewards you’ll receive, then read on.
Fortnite Fortnitemares Rewards 2020
There are a number of Fortnite Fortnitemares rewards you can earn by completing the 2020 challenges, which we’ll list alongside them below. Kicking things off is the Midas’ Shadow wrap, which is animated and replicates the eerie gloom you experience when you enter the Shadow world. You can also pick up the Smash O’-Lantern pickaxe that is dripping with pumpkin pulp, and the Bobo back bling so you can have a literal monkey on your back.

Become a Shadow (3)
Fortnitemares reward: 40,000 Season XP
When you get eliminated in Fortnitemares mode, it’s no longer immediately game over as you now receive a second chance to come back as a Shadow. Initially this challenge appeared to be glitched, and was only registering that you’d become a Shadow if you were eliminated by an NPC such as Iron Man or Wolverine, however this seems to be fixed now so all you need to do is be defeated then return three separate times.
Travel 100 meters on a Witch Broom (100)

There are various haunted shacks that have appeared around the island, and you’ll find a Fortnite Witch Broom if you search the area immediately outside of them. Once the brush is in you inventory, simply trigger it to soar into the sky – wild cackling is not mandatory, but encouraged.
Eat Candy (25) [Rec: 4 Players]
Fortnitemares reward: Midas’ Shadow wrap
To eat Fortnite Candy you’ll first need to find a bucket like the one above, fit to burst with Halloween goodies. These are part of the decorations around the buildings in most Named Locations, and once you’ve destroyed the container various sweet treats will spill out, ready to be consumed.
Deal damage with a Possessed Vehicle (100)

Once you become a Shadow, you can approach any of the Fortnite cars and follow the Possess prompt to drive it around. Look out for Survivors nearby that have been tagged with the Scream ability, then aim to hit them with your vehicle and deal damage. Damage to NPCs also counts, so the easiest method is to possess a vehicle at Stark Industries then ram a couple of Stark Robots to reach your target quickly.
Detect players as a Shadow (10)

One of the abilities you have access to as a Shadow is Scream, which emits a piercing shriek and tags any nearby Survivors for you and the other Shadows to see. There’s a 35 second cool down period after you’ve triggered Scream, so use it sparingly until you know there are Survivors in the area.
Eliminate Shadow Midas (1) [Rec: 4 Players]
Fortnitemares reward: Smash O’-Lantern harvesting tool
Shadow Midas is patrolling around The Ruins in the middle of the island, which was previously The Authority. Eliminating him should count whether you’re a Survivor or a Shadow, but bear in mind that he only spawns once per match so you may need to find and eliminate him before other players do.
Eliminate Shadows as a Player (3)

Keep your eye out for Shadows to battle with, and remember that players you eliminate will often come straight back to the same area to try and take their revenge. Shadows can only have a maximum of 100 health and no shield, but they can move fast so aim to keep them out of melee range as you blast them.
Visit different Witch Shacks (3)

Consume legendary loot as a Shadow (1) [Rec: 4 Players]
Fortnitemares reward: Bobo back bling
As a Shadow, you can approach any item and follow the Consume prompt to eat it, which will recover your health. The rarer the item, the more health it will provide, so for this challenge you need to look out for gold coloured legendary loot to consume – smash open chests and check areas where opponents have been eliminated to help spot them.
