Fallout 4 mod support for PS4 “still under evaluation”

Fallout 4 (opens in new tab)’s mods haven’t exactly had a smooth run on PS4 and it doesn’t look like much is changing with Bethesda just tweeting this message about it.

We’re working w/ Sony on Fallout 4 Mod support for PS4. The process is still under evaluation. As soon as we learn more, we will share news.August 1, 2016

Way back in June a range of issues were raised with Fallout 4 mods on PS4 (opens in new tab)including a 900 MB size limit, lack of support for custom sound files (as PS4 uses a proprietary format) and use of PC textures causing memory and performance problems because they’re not optimised for PlayStation. They were meant to be out in June and so far, still nothing.

A tweet from Bethesda’s Pete Hines however seems to suggest there aren’t any problems, just that the “process is still under review”.

@King_Guy1 I didn’t say there were any problems. Just that the process is still under review.August 1, 2016

Overall, though, it doesn’t sound like we’ll be seeing mods on PS4 anytime soon. That “as soon as we learn more we will share news” bit doesn’t exactly sound like anything’s going to happen fast.
