The shortlist of nominees for the British Academy Video Games Awards’ (BAFTA) GAME Audience Award is out, and it looks like this year is going to be a fanboy bloodbath.
Ten nominees have been shortlisted for the people’s choice honor. They include Batman: Arkham City, Battlefield 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Fifa 12, L.A. Noire, Minecraft, Portal 2, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.
Other than the reprehensible Duke Nukem snub, BAFTA’s list appears on par with public opinion, including GR’s own 2011 picks. Now, BAFTA is asking the public to vote on their number one favorite from the entire group, with the winner to be announced during the BAFTA ceremony on March 16. Those who register their selection on BAFTA’s website will be entered to win a Limited Edition Star Wars Xbox 360 system with Kinect.
“The BAFTA GAME Award is an award we are particularly proud of as it gives our customers the chance to make their opinion heard,” said Anna-Marie Mason with GAME, a UK video game retailer. “This year’s shortlist is really exciting and we would like to encourage every GAME customer to vote for their favorite game – we can’t wait to see the final result!”
